Mrs. Abberfield continued, “By providing the IFC grant, TexSkill will be able to engage a greater number of participants and as a result, more quickly develop the 'hands on' expertise and knowledge required by local businesses to adopt and sustain the LEAN principles in the textile sector.”

The objective of the LEAN training program is to provide participants with a mix of high level understanding and practical hands on application of LEAN systems. LEAN manufacturing is often regarded in simplistic terms in relation to cost reduction rather than as an overall business strategy or more accurately – a journey that focuses on continuous improvement and refinement.

"In these times of economic uncertainty and on going removal of international barriers to trade, it is more important than ever that textile manufacturers position their businesses for long term growth and success by ensuring that their manufacturing processes are waste free, agile and responsive to marketplace opportunities.”

“Through the support of the TexSkill LEAN introductory programs by IFC, Victorian textile manufacturers have the opportunity to commence their LEAN journey and secure both their future and the long term contribution they provide to Victoria and Australia's economic well being,” concluded Mrs Abberfield.
