Destination Fashion to take place at Bal Harbour Shops

Recently at a kickoff celebration brunch, The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis announced its much anticipated lineup for Destination Fashion 2009. Designer extraordinaire Michael Kors will show his exclusive fall fashions at the high-profile event and fashion extravaganza and Grammy Award-winning trio The Pointer Sisters will perform.

The event will take place at the Bal Harbour Shops on Saturday, March 7, 2009 starting at 6:00 p.m. Musical headliner will be announced early next year. Proceeds to benefit The Buoniconti Fund, the fundraising arm of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.

Honorary co-chairs for the event are Academy Award winner Tommy Lee Jones and his wife Dawn Jones. NFL Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti, Barth Green, M.D., Marc Buoniconti, Gretchen Jordan, Suzie Sayfie and Stephanie Sayfie Aagaardare event chairs and welcomed a who's who of philanthropic icons, business leaders, fashionistas and other South Florida notables to the kickoff.

Also announced were the 2009 Women of Substance and StyleHonorees, who are: Toby Ansin, Madeleine Arison, Adrienne Arsht, Patty Asseff, Dorothy Barrie, Nancy Batchelor, Bobbi Berkman, Julia Bianchi, Debra Braman Wechsler, Nora Bulnes, Cindy Carr, Trudy Cejas, Beatrice Clancy, Anna May Conese, Victoria Cummock, Diane de Olazarra, Raysa Fanjul, Alice Fisher Edelman, Paula Friedland, Gladys Gelb, Susie Goldsmith, Andria Holtz, Elsie Howard, Carol Iacovelli, Roni Jacobson, Susan Jacobson, Gretchen Jordan, Kandy Kramer, Edie Laquer, Anne McDougal, Christina Getty Maercks, Lisa Pliner, Jennifer Postrel, Christy Powell, Victoria Ranger, Loren Ridinger, Chris Riley, Mary Anne Shula, Claudine Smurfit, Jessica Goldman Srebnick, Laura Tauber and Marisa Toccin.

Guests will be treated to a runway show featuring the collections of America's leading fashion designer, Michael Kors, who will attend and introduce his collection at the star-studded main event. Kors will showcase his exclusive Fall collection, presented by Saks Fifth Avenue Bal Harbour in the Destination Fashion Arena. Guests will witness the presentation of the Women of Substance and Styleas well as The Barth A. Green Spirit Award to golf legend Jack Nicklaus, and Stanley Whitman of Bal Harbour Shops will receive The Buoniconti Fund Award.

Party-goers will be amazed when they feast on incredible cuisine, relish the unique and spectacular live interactive entertainment and bid on the magnificent "Too Good to Be Silent" auction items donated by the Bal Harbour Shops. Destination Fashion will again be produced by event impresario, Barton G.

Proceeds from Destination Fashion 2009 will directly benefit The Buoniconti Fund, the fundraising arm of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. The Miami Project is the world's largest, most comprehensive spinal cord injury research center and is a designated Center of Excellence at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
