Johnny Pinto, President of Dubai American Fashion Week (DAFW), announced last week that he will no longer be leading the effort for the start up tradeshow in the Middle East. After realizing the impact of the country's economic situation on the ambitious project, Mr. Pinto and DAFW have parted ways. The duties of Mr. Pinto were not reassigned after his departure, and it is uncertain if the show will continue.

When asked about the separation, Mr. Pinto said, "Like so many businesses across the country, DAFW has been doing its best to ride out the current economic situation. It's unfortunate that we must part ways, as I have thoroughly enjoyed my responsibilities as President of the company, building the DAFW brand and connecting with colleagues in the U.S. and Middle East.

However, considering the instability of the economy right now, I understand the investors' decision to place the project on hold. It is my hope that DAFW will press on in the future with its promise to bring a tradeshow to the Middle East, providing new ground for thriving U.S. clothing lines and allowing them to step foot in the international market. I wish them nothing but the best."

Mr. Pinto will now be focusing his efforts on his marketing consulting firm, The JP Group. Services and website will be set to launch in Spring 2009.
