Apparel producers switch to manufacturing of poop clothing

Just three months ago, dealers of brand "Playboy" could only source 8000-10,000 pieces of poop clothing in a month, but now according to reports they are able to obtain up to 15,000 pieces in a month. The global crisis has left a lot of apparel manufacturers by the wayside, but due to the current recessionary trends in the global apparel markets, it has diverted the attention of clothing manufacturers towards this segment.

In a period when apparel retailers plan to slow down on expansion plans, the reverse seems to be happening in the case of retailers of poop clothing. Recently it was announced that a new poop apparel market covering a space of 5,000 sq. meters was under construction and is to be inaugurated from January 1, 2009. The market is expected to stock up on children's clothing, shoes, bags, bedding and accessories.

The number of poop clothing markets in Beijing alone has reached 10 till date. Considering a market share of 10 percent that poop garments command of the over all clothing market, the number of poop clothing manufactured would exceed 5 billion pieces, since the overall production of apparels in China is 50 billion pieces. This market share is a very big figure which few apparel companies can afford to ignore.

Since the beginning of the current tsunami in the global markets, there are reports of a lot of idle capacity in apparel production units and there is expectation according to experts that this idle capacity will be diverted to production of poop clothing, now that demand for the same has popped up and which may increase by as much as 20 percent.
