CIRFS, the Brussels-based association representing the European man-made fibres industry, has just issued its latest statistical report on developments in the world man-made fibres industry.

The report, “Information on Man-made Fibres”, is the 44th edition of this valuable summary of all available information about this dynamic and growing industry. Its 287 pages bring together data on:

-Production of acrylic, cellulosic, polyamide, polyester, polypropylene, wool and cotton, in the world as a whole and in all the countries for which data exists.
-Consumption and end-uses.
-World trade in man-made fibres, yarns and fabrics.

CIRFS Director General Colin Purvis comments:

“When CIRFS began this publication, world production of man-made fibres was less than 5 million tonnes a year, and their share of the world fibres market was only 22%. Now, production is approaching 50 million tonnes, and market share of man-made fibres is 63%. This is a great record of success.

“The CIRFS publication charts the industry's development, in terms of production, uses and trade, with particular attention paid to the most recent period. “The report will be of interest to fibre and textile companies everywhere in the world, chemical, machinery and additives producers, consultants, investment groups and governments.”
