Varanasi, the silk capital of India is emerging as a sourcing destination and market for robes worn by Tibetans monks. These robes manufactured from brock cloth and peacock feathers are preferred by the monks.
Cloth made from these materials is given very special importance and place in Tibetan culture and can be worn by a very spiritual person only and the cloth is considered holy to be used only in spiritual ceremonies.
The cloth is exported to many countries and has great demand particularly in Buddhist countries like Japan, Thailand and Burma. The export of this cloth is creating a very good source of revenue to the workers and traders of Varanasi.
