The total market size of Chaddar has increased to 127 million pieces in 2007 from 122 million pieces in 2006 indicating an increase in the usage of Chaddar by 4.10 percent. Out of the above, the urban areas have a share of 22.05 percent and rural areas a share of 77.95 percent.

The total market size of Bed Sheet has stood at 156 million pieces in 2007 as compared to 148 million pieces in 2006. The demand for Bed sheet has thus gone up by 5.41 percent in 2007 over the demand in 2006. Out of the above, the urban areas have a share of 43.59 percent and rural areas a share of 56.41 percent.

The cotton chaddar is popular with a demand share of 96.06 percent of the market as against 3.94 percent of man-made and blended/mixed chaddar. The demand for cotton chaddar during the period is estimated at 122 million pieces and for man-made and blended/mixed chaddar it is estimated at 5 million pieces.

The cotton bedsheet is the popular with a demand share of 93.59 percent of the market as against 6.41 percent of man-made and blended/mixed bedsheet. The demand for cotton bedsheet during the period is estimated at 146 million pieces and for man-made and blended/mixed bedsheet it is estimated at 10 million pieces.

•Market for Towel/Terry Towel:
