Vietnamese General Department of Customs recently released statistical report which shows that thread imports turnover of the country went down in September 2008 as local production reduced on the back of slower demand.
In the month of September, the import turnover declined by 14.5 percent compared to previous month and 20.9 percent against similar period last year. The country imported threads worth US $3.55 million from various destinations.
In the period from January to September, the import figures reached $43.3 million, showcasing a growth of 17.1 percent over the corresponding period previous year.
The importing price of thread stood with in the range of $0.1 –$8.5 per reel on average, depicting a hike of 8 percent over similar period last year.
