According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, yarn prices imported from various destinations have gone down, during the week from November 26 to December 5.
Experts opines that plunge in the crude price is responsible for low yarn prices. This is definitely a welcoming situation for local producers.
During this period, prices of yarn of various types declined, including polyester yarn which stood at US $1.03 – $2.06 per kg.
The price quoted from Malaysia stood at $1.38 per kg, reduced by 5.8 percent in comparison to previous month; from Taiwan it went down by 9.1 percent to $1.41 per kg and from Indonesia, prices stood at $2.06 per kg showcasing a fall of 1.5 percent.
In the meantime, the importing price from Czech Republic remained stable at $1.03 per kg.
The price of blended 60/40 cotton polyester fabric imported from Hong Kong stood at $0.69 per metre; $1.17 per metre from Taiwan.
100 percent cotton fabric from Hong Kong was quoted at $1.62 per yard while it was $1.68 per yard from China.
The price of 65/35 polyester cotton fabric quoted from Hong Kong was very competitive at $0.77 per metre, but procured at $1.17 per yard from Chinese suppliers.
