Today the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) responded to the Footwear Distributors and Retailers Association's (FDRA) announcement of the impending departure of President Peter Mangione. Serving nearly three decades as president of FDRA, Mangione's work benefited the entire footwear industry.
“Peter's dedication to the footwear sector, leadership and perseverance in the face of tough challenges will be missed,” said AAFA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke. “Peter leaves behind large shoes to fill.”
Over the years, AAFA and FDRA collaborated within coalitions to kick down trade barriers worldwide and, most recently, to stomp out the shoe tax, an initiative to save hardworking American families billions of dollars. “AAFA looks forward to working in-step with whoever the FDRA Board appoints,” added Burke.
The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) is the national trade association representing apparel, footwear and other sewn products companies, and their suppliers, which compete in the global market. AAFA's mission is to promote and enhance its members' competitiveness, productivity and profitability in the global market by minimizing regulatory, commercial, political, and trade restraints.
