Polyester filament industry going through rough patch

The average production and sales trend of the polyester filament industry in Jiangzhe is at only 40-70 percent and for some enterprises it is as low as 30 percent. This has happened due to the slowdown in the downstream consumption sectors.
The trend of weakening in sales in the filament industry does not seem to have stopped. There has been news recently of a company with more than 600,000 tons of production capacity having shut down, with more of them planning to do the same.
On the fundamental side, the downstream polyester market has risen marginally, due to which prices of polyester staple fibre have moved slightly higher, which is leading to some activity in the PTA spot market.
The procurement of downstream manufacturers will come to an end before the Spring Festival, so demand is expected to shrink further, which will narrow the volatility space of PTA market.
