DOMOTEX to help harness Jordan's market potential for carpets industry

DOMOTEX Middle East 2009, the only dedicated carpets and floor coverings exhibition in the MENA region, has announced that it expects the Jordanian market for carpets and floor coverings to continue to consolidate and help open new opportunities in the regional wholesale market in line with the solid gains the country has achieved in the construction sector, which is expected to exceed JD 50 billion by the end of 2012.
DOMOTEX Middle East 2009 will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 17 to 19, featuring an expanded segment dedicated to emerging trends and best practices in carpets and floor covering designs.
Jordan's reputation among international real estate investors has been strengthened by the government's positive outlook and confidence in its economy, particularly after a recent pronouncement by Prime Minister Nader al-Dahabi that the impact of the global financial crisis on Jordan's economy remains at a manageable level. DOMOTEX Middle East further revealed that the passing of a new construction law in 2008 has been another key factor that has further pushed Jordan's construction and real estate potential, and subsequently the demand for building materials such as carpets and floor coverings, which are extensively used in hotel and office developments.
Angela Schaschen, Managing Director, Deutsche Messe Dubai Branch said: "Construction and real estate activities will remain an important part of Jordan's economy as reflected by the country's long-term economic forecast. Construction expenditure alone is expected to reach around JD 50 billion by 2012, manifesting the country's resiliency despite the global economic challenges.
The increased construction and real estate activities in Jordan, especially those focused on hotel and office developments, will impact demand for carpets and floor coverings and ultimately enhance the regional wholesale market. DOMOTEX Middle East intends to capitalise on this positive development by providing a suitable platform for buyers and sellers to interact and explore new business opportunities."
DOMOTEX Middle East 2009 will feature two special segments – Creative Flooring and Designers Corner – that will showcase materials, products, techniques and trends in carpet and flooring designs for the hospitality and office sectors. Creative Flooring will gather professionals from the UK who will demonstrate the latest hotel and office floor laying skills, while the Designers Corner will exhibit the latest designs in flooring to interior designers and architects.
DOMOTEX Middle East has likewise established a key partnership with the Association for Professional Interior Designers (APID) to collaborate in key areas of the exhibition, including the inaugural Flooring Seminar, which will facilitate discussions with APID members about the role of flooring in interior design.
