Conference Highlights
• Mr. Farkhand Iqbal, the JointSecretary of the Ministry of Textile Industry, was Chief Guest at the conference
• The conference was chaired by Mr. Mohammad Farooq Sumar, who is the Chairman of the National Textile Foundation
• The conference was held under the auspices of Textile Institute of Pakistan (TIP), which is a leading textile education institution of the country, and the Textile Research & Innovation Centre (TRIC)
• Dr. Tahir Shah, a prominent scientist at the Centre of Materials Research, University of Bolton, U.K., delivered interesting and informative lectures on Geosynthetics and Their Major Applications as well as Smart and Intelligent Textiles (SMITs)
• Dr. Anbahan Ariadurai, Visiting Professor from Sri Lanka & Head of Textile Research & Innovation Centre at TIP introduced the audience to the concept of “Nonwoven Technologies”
• Mr. Danish Ahmed, a researcher from the Textile Research and Innovation Centre, delivered a presentation on the wide variety of Medical Textiles and their uses
• Syeda Faiza Jamil, an upcoming researcher in technical textiles based at the TIP, gave an enthralling presentation on the vast applications of geotextiles, especially with respect to their potential in Pakistan
• Mr. Aasim Ahmed, another budding researcher from TIP, enlightened the audience with the success of Agritextiles in preventing fungus infection of red chilies and soil erosion
• The conference was sponsored by Al-Ameen Trading Corporation.
MEGATECH Pakistan 2010 - Preview
The 8th edition of the International Machinery Exhibition of Garment & Textile Technology is scheduled from 4-6 March 2010 at Karachi Expo Centre.
MEGATECH Pakistan 2010 is poised to introduce overseas suppliers to Pakistan textile industry to complement its efforts for value added exports. The show will be an excellent platform for textile machinery manufacturers to maximize their exposure, establish new business leads and strengthen existing contacts with the local market.
A specialised conference will be also organised in concurrence with the event to further acquaint the local industry with the emerging developments in technical textiles.
