The financial and economic storm cloud seems to have blown away from over the skies of the textile sector in Taiwan since the last few days as companies are reporting good order book positions in April as well as May.

Companies in the middle and lower rungs such as Li Peng, Taffeta and Ru-hung have begun reporting good news since the end of March regarding profits and orders and now claim to have full order books for the current as well as next month.

Li Peng recently released figures for March which reflect revenues of 1.6 billion NT, up 17.3 percent from January, although overall revenue of the first quarter declined from the same period last year due to many reasons.

Taffeta Fabrics said that the performance in the first quarter of 2009 has been better than the same time last year and they have also delivered profits and now their orders have extended into mid-May and follow-up orders are under discussion.

Ru-hong, one of the large clothing manufacturers in Taiwan says that March revenue registered over 6 million NT Yuan, up 10.98 percent year-on-year and those of the first quarter stood at 1.46 billion NT Yuan, up 5.85 percent from the same quarter of 2008.
