AATCC announces winners of C2C/CITDA Design Competition

Research Triangle Park, N.C., USA, Tuesday, April 14, 2009—The American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) launched its fifth annual C2C/CITDA design competition developed by its Concept 2 Consumer Interest Group and the Computer Integrated Textile Design Association. The theme of this year's design competition was Color Concepts.

AATCC received 125 entries from 38 institutions around the globe. Competition winners will receive cash awards of $1,000 for First Place and $500 for Second Place in each category and complimentary student registration for the 2010 AATCC International Conference.

First place winners will also receive a complimentary copy of Pantone's Color Passport, pantone.com. The first place winner of the Product Design category is eligible to compete for the Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) “International Colour and Textile Award.”

Fabric Design
• 1st Place - Let Freedom Reign by Miranda Shilati, Syracuse University
• 2nd Place - Pattern in Architecture by Eleanor Hoffman, North Carolina State University

Product Design• 1st Place - Footsteps Maternity by Erika Neumayer, Dominican University
• 2nd Place - Sweet Snowflakes by Wesley Kathryn Woods, Auburn University

AATCC would like to extend its appreciation to the final judges for their input and expertise in selecting this year's winning entries, they are: Jeana Fitzgerald – Manager, Product Development, Cotton Incorporated, Yvonne Johnson – Associate Director, Product Development, Cotton Incorporated, and Kerry Maguire King – Manager Digital Print Service, Textile Clothing Technology Corporation [TC]2.
