In today's world, consumers have more choices in the type of fabrics they wear. Innovations in the field of nanotechnology present new ways of processing fabrics that will create a new era in the textile industry.

Waterproof fabrics are the latest innovation in this field. No matter for the period of time this naotachnology treated fabric is soaked in water, it comes out dry as ever.

Scientists from Zurich University have come up with a new fabric, in which water stays on top of the fabric as balls and can be removed with just a single tilt.

Polyester fibres are coated with millions of 40 nanometer wide silicone nanofilaments. Here silicone is condensed in the form of gas and coated on the fibres.

Researchers positively assert that this process can successfully be applied on other viscose cotton and woolen materials though polyester gives the best results currently.
