She was given the award at the 3rd award ceremony of All Manipur Arts & Culture and sports development Society held at MM child centre, Khomidok Mayai Leikai, Imphal East.
Under the supervision of Asun, Handloom and Handicraft co-operative Federation, Ukhrul district now has over 18,800 members enrolled in the society with over 185 primary weaver co-operative societies, 40 members of productions, 30 trainers with 5 instructors.
During the award ceremony, she said that the designs that need to be engraved in the making of Tangkhul shawls and Phaneks has to be done manually without depending on the machine, which requires around 3 to 4 weeks to make a single Tangkhul shawl.
But now making around 30 to 35 such shawls in a couple of weeks has become possible and easier for the weavers here, due to the arrival of new machines from outside the State.
