Fabrics and yarns, a new winning pair, ready for their stage debut at the Fortezza da Basso. “PRIMA – Moda Tessuto”, is the name of the new fair event promoted by the Pratotrade consortium, in synergism with Pitti Immagine, that will premier on the national and international scene.

The decision to hold “PRIMA – Moda Tessuto” and Pitti Filati simultaneously at the Fortezza da Basso, from July 7 to 9, 2009, was made with the idea of bringing together in a single, full-range showcase event, the “raw materials” (fabrics and yarns) used by the garment industry to create fashion products, and it promises to attract the interest of a vast audience of operators in the sector. The choice of the name for the new event is significant too: it previews and opens the calendar of textile events, offering a broad view of the fabric collections for fall-winter 2010-2011. “

PRIMA – Moda Tessuto” thus intends to be the first move, in advance of the traditional fair dates, so as to give the garment manufacturers plenty of time to start planning their work, with respect to the range of fabrics available. “The event, combined with Pitti Filati – stresses Alessandro Benelli, president of Pratotrade – will have the special feature of offering collections that are already definitive, to a large extent, in July, and this responds to the urgings of many of our clients and the market in general about the need to discover the season's trend farther ahead of time”.

In view of the initiative in July, the organizers have already started to work, and in these days they are sending letters to potential exhibitors, even outside the Prato district, with the request to participate in the event. ”Participation in PRIMA – Moda Tessuto, that is thereby projected in the dimension of an international event, is aimed at a specific target of companies that have, as their common denominator, quality, innovation and research, as well as a high fashion content of the collections”, adds the director of Pratotrade, Vincenzo Pagano. The challenge is a bold one, involving also foreign companies, if they have the requisites for participation: the idea is to obtain the participation of as many qualified national and international textile manufacturers as possible.

“It seemed right to us, at this time, to accept a request of cooperation from a different but complementary sector to that of yarns – says Raffaello Napoleone, Managing Director of Pitti Immagine – if previewing helps the industry to achieve success on the market, then this combination can strengthen and even complete the national trade fair offering for unfinished materials”.
