Swine flu outbreak keeps nonwoven masks producers busy

Swine flu has swept across more than half of the world in just a few days time and currently people around the globe are scared on the mere mention of the word swine flu, which is leading to masks made from nonwoven fabrics selling like hot cakes, which in turn is helping nonwoven manufacturers in Zhejiang Province receive a large number of orders.

"I am now left with only samples of one-time use masks now since all my stocks have sold out”, says a trader in the market and adds by saying that, “From the beginning of the previous week, sales of one-time use masks are getting better and better and all my stocks were sold out the day before yesterday and I have orders in hand for deliveries till the month of June”.

"Yesterday morning, I received enquiries from 5-7 buyers of different countries like the US, Europe, Japan and South Korea and all of them demanded masks. Sales of one-time masks have quadrupled compared to the same period last year and the price which now rules at .50 Yuan per piece could move to 1.0 Yuan per piece on back of so much demand from the overseas markets”, says another textile trader.

Shaoxing Fuqing Health Products Co has reportedly received a order for delivering 30 million masks made from nonwoven fabrics to Mexico, which is the epicenter of the swine flu. Domestic nonwoven manufacturers of masks in Shaoxing are receiving nearly 20-30 percent more orders than in normal times and are now working overtime to fulfill the deluge of overseas orders.
