DuPont announced that Samuel W. Bodman, former U.S. Secretary of Energy and former chairman and CEO of Cabot Corporation, was elected to its board of directors during the company's annual stockholders meeting.

Bodman, 70, served as U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury and Deputy Secretary of Commerce for the George W. Bush administration prior to his appointment as Secretary of Energy. Previously, Bodman was chairman and CEO of Cabot Corporation - a Boston-based global specialty chemical and materials business, president and chief operating officer of Fidelity Investments, and an associate professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

“Sam's broad government, academic and business experience provides DuPont a critically important perspective as we navigate through the rapidly changing market environment,” said DuPont Chairman Charles O. Holliday Jr.

Other affiliations for Bodman include former director of MIT's School of Engineering Practice and former member of the MIT Commission on Education. Bodman recently was elected to the board of directors of AES Corporation.
