Italian machines for technical textiles to be on show at TECHTEXTIL

In 2009 edition of Techtextil, which will take place next June in Frankfurt, ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers) and ICE (Italian Institute for Foreign Trade) have organized a Meeting Point. It will host about 10 Italian machinery manufacturers involved in the production of machines for technical textiles.
Italian industry turns particular attention to the sector of technical and innovative textiles. ACIMIT estimates about 100 Italian manufacturers offering machinery for the production of technical textiles and nonwovens. This kind of machines accounts for about 10% of the global textile machinery production, which in 2008 amounted to over Euro 2,000 million.
Also in this sector, the excellence of the Italian technology is the result of the synergy between the Italian manufacturers on one side and the Italian textile industry on the other. The sector of technical textiles embraces several companies, which are leading in different application fields (apparel, geotextiles, etc.). The steady research and innovation activities in the production of technical textiles linked together textile producers and Italian technology suppliers into a success alliance.
The large number of countries which are the destination of the Italian textile machinery bears witness to the high quality of the Italian textile technology. In 2008 export accounted for almost 79% of the total turnover. Asia (with 43%) is the major destination of the Italian export of this sector, followed by Europe (34%), Latin America (11%), Africa (7%) and North America (5%).
