The outbreak of H1N1 Type 'A' influenza is stimulating increased demand for medical textiles, particularly nonwoven face masks and other products. At present, non-woven fabric manufacturers and disinfectant manufacturers in Qingdao have felt strong demand for protective products.

A non-woven fabric manufacturer received several orders from Mexico and the United States for 60,000,000 non-woven medical masks in total. Protective product manufacturers are also running their production units at full steam to step up production due to stocks of protective equipment running out.

Mr. Du Jun, manager of Xinyi Non-woven Co., Ltd. in Qingdao says that before the outbreak of H1N1 Type 'A' influenza, the company had never received business orders from Mexico and the United States. Yesterday, he received a surprise when he saw 7-8 mails from those two countries containing orders for his products.

Du says all the orders are custom-made orders, requiring non-woven medical masks, a single order from Mexico asks for non-woven fabrics of 50 million masks. Du says frankly that such a huge amount is beyond their production capacity. Currently the company's two large-scale automatic assembly-lines run at full capacity.
