Hohenstein Institute honours textile service providers

As part of an official ceremony, Robert C. Steiner, CEO of US textile service provider ALSCO USA, received the “Hohenstein Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence in Global Textile Services” on 22 April 2009. Approximately 100 invited guests attended the ceremony and subsequent conference directed by Stefan Mecheels, Director of the Hohenstein Institute in Boennigheim.
The inaugural presentation of this award took place in 2008, on the occasion of honouring Prof. Dr. h.c. Josef Kurz for his 50 years with the institute and excellent work in the field of textile services. The award, which does not involve a cash prize, honours individuals who on the basis of their entrepreneurial performance have achieved sustained international success in the field of textile services. Prime considerations in this regard include personal commitment, integrity and business philosophy.
Last year's award winner Carl-F. Bardusch, Managing Director of Bardusch GmbH & Co. KG in Ettlingen, as well as Martin Kannegiesser, President of the Gesamtmetall Employers Association emphasised the outstanding role of the Steiner family in global textile leasing over the last 120 years. ALSCO was founded in 1889 in Lincoln, Nebraska, with a starting capital of USD 50. The company, which has been managed by Robert C. Steiner for 30 years, now has approximately 12,000 employees worldwide.
Martin Kannegiesser concluded the ceremony with his presentation “Lessons from the Crisis – Opportunities and Risks for Industrial Service Providers” and led into the subsequent Hohenstein future forum. The forum discussed the special challenges associated with textile leasing as part of various technical presentations.
