The Garment and Leather Technology Association of the Federation of German Machine and Plant Manufacturers (Verband Deutscher Maschinen und Anlagenbau – VDMA) supports Texprocess, the new trade fair for processing and automation technology for textiles and other flexible materials, which is to be held by Messe Frankfurt.

“Messe Frankfurt has by far the greatest expertise in organising trade fairs for the entire textile chain. Therefore, it makes sense for the leading international trade fair for processing and automation technology for textiles and flexible materials to be held in Frankfurt am Main. The focus of Texprocess is on processing technology for the garment-manufacturing industry. The world's garment manufacturers are our most important customers."

"Increasingly, however, our technology manufacturers also offer solutions for processing technical textiles and this means that holding the fair in conjunction with Techtextil in Frankfurt will result in an ideal win-win situation for exhibitors and visitors”, emphasised Elgar Straub, General Manager of the Garment and Leather Technology Association of the VDMA, at a press conference in Frankfurt am Main on 29 April 2009.

“Today's exhibitors and visitors demand ideal platforms that do justice to the great effort that fairs and exhibition involve. And the creation of a platform of this kind is exactly what we aim to achieve by holding Garment and Leather Texprocess and Techtextil in parallel in the future. Thus, Frankfurt will be the world's foremost market place for technology for our sector”, explained Straub. Current trends in garment processing show clearly that the phase of unchecked resource wastage in the manufacturing and transport of garments is coming to an end. Garment production is being moved back closer to the consumers so that production sites in and near Europe will become of ever greater interest not only for garment manufacturing but also for the production of technical textiles. Nevertheless, Texprocess will not only focus on customers in Europe but also, in keeping with its position as the leading international trade fair for processing technology, on companies around the world.

Straub: “Manufacturers and customers need a central market place at which the trends of the sector are presented and initiated every two years. This is what Texprocess in Frankfurt offers. In this connection, we expect Messe Frankfurt to make a significant contribution via its potent international structure, which includes subsidiaries and sales partners in over 150 countries around the globe. Also decisive is the fact that, with over 30 trade fairs in the field of textiles and garments, Messe Frankfurt offers a platform that is unmatched anywhere in the world.”

The Garment and Leather Processing Technology Association of the VDMA represents around 90 percent of all technology manufacturers based in Germany, from CAD software, via cutting-out systems, sewing machines, sewing needles, to ironing and finishing technology, as well as transport and logistics components.
