Many enterprises in HCM city are planning to recruit large number of employees to complete their new export orders. This requirement of workers emerged in the second quarter of current financial year, which can be seen as a sign of economic recovery as in the first-quarter, thousands of the workers had been laid off by many of the companies due to recession.

One of the officials from the Binh Tien Footwear Company (Biti's) said that Biti's had intensified its product promotion in domestic as well as in non-traditional overseas markets during the fall in export orders from traditional markets.

This strategy had helped the company to overcome recession up to some extent. The company would start a new factory in the Mekong Delta province of Can Tho this year by recruiting 600 new workers, he added by saying.

Many of the enterprises in the city's Industrial Parks (IP) and Export Processing Zones (EPZ), engaged in manufacturing of garment and textiles, sport shoes and suitcases intend to employ more workers.

Hansoll Vina and Triumph, the two garment companies at the Song Than I IP revealed their need of 3.000 workers for completing current orders. Along with these, sports shoe makers An Loc and Sung Huyn Vina at the Binh Duong II IP also looking to employ new workers.

Several Companies such as shoemaker Freetrend, garment and textile firms Kollan and Nissei at the Linh Trung I and II EPZs as well as the companies at the Le Minh Xuan IP and the Tan Thuan EPZ also plan to hire thousands of new workers.

As per the information obtained from HCM city and Thanh Nien employment agencies, loads of enterprises have been making announcements regarding their needs of workers since the beginning of April and are working with authorities at provincial, district and commune level to find workers.

An expert from the HCM City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority conformed that a numbers of companies are not able to have enough workers to fulfill their in hand, export orders.

To employ large number of workers, scores of enterprises had announced more favorable conditions such as increased salaries, better allowances and entertainment activities, he added.

Some businesses have diluted the job criteria of workers to attract a wider segment of workforce. Some have expanded the age limits of workers while the other few have lowered their minimum educational and professional qualification requirements.
