Merino skirtings continue to attract strong competition with prices generally moving up over the week. Fine crossbred and medium type crossbred Average MPGs were up slightly, whereas there was an easing at the coarse end. Oddments remained firm with prices holding or moving upwards. The AWEX Merino Cardings average MPG was up by 2¢.
Buyers for China dominated sales this week followed by support from India.
Sales will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 43,596 bales are currently rostered for sale. Present estimates for the following two sales are 39,110 and 30,300 bales (only Sydney and Melbourne selling), respectively, an increase of 2.8% over the three sale period when compared with last year.
Sales were in recess in South Africa and will resume next week.
