The ADVANSA ThermoCool sponsored Extreme Raid team recorded their third consecutive victory of the Spain Adventure Raids The team finished in 1st place after a 15 hours' hard and exhausting race in the 11th edition of Raid La Pineda Platja. Fighting against time, bad weather conditions and 19 strong teams, Fran López Costoya, Arnau Julía and Albert Roca had to complete orientation, mountain biking, kayak, canyoning, walking and bike & run through typically Mediterranean landscapes in persistent fog with a strong decrease of temperature and heavy rain.
The Adventure Raid is a competition to test the physical and mental endurance, navigation and survival abilities of the participants. Under extreme circumstances, the athletes had to complete an extensive orientation tour in the shortest time, long duration tests in extreme conditions without any motorized elements, relying on their own strengths.
The 11th edition of Raid la Pineda Platja started on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. from the town of Tivissa in the Ribera d`Ebre, with 43 teams and about 150 participants, grouped in Elite and Adventure categories. Competing in the Elite Category, the Buff ThermoCool Raid Team successfully finished the competition on Sunday afternoon in La Pineda / Dorada, with a significant lead of 2 hours over the team who finished second.
The Raid La Pineda is the third consecutive victory of Buff ThermoCool Raid Team in national league. In such exhausting and long lasting competitions, it is important for the team to wear outstanding multifunctional outfits made from a unique blend of multi-channel and hollow fibres which adapts to their needs, providing evaporative cooling or thermo-buffering functions as needed.
