Export Promotion Board drafts proposals for new export policy

The Export Promotion Board (EPB) has drafted proposals for the new three year export policy 2009-12, with new suggestions in a bid to boost exports. The current export policy expires on June 30.
The 156 new recommendations, amongst which are to offer cash incentives for some export of some products like environmentally friendly products, coir products, bamboo and cane products, which at present do not enjoy any such cash incentives.
Among other proposals are to set up industrial parks and shifting outdated industries from within the metropolitan city limits. The EPB has sent the proposals to the Ministry of Commerce which is now working on them before the cabinet gives its approval.
