The Indian textile industry provides immense scope for employment for the disabled. As the manufacturing process of garments involve repetitive, routine and continuous operations with less variation in style, the industry enables employment opportunities for these people on several tasks ranging from simple to complex.

Based on their skill sets, various jobs are available for all people from unskilled to highly skilled depending upon their aptitude and education.

The credit goes to the activists who have brought their potential to the spotlight through awareness raising programmes. Their efforts can still be enhanced with more energy and enthusiasm.

Taking initiatives for facilitating linkages between the stakeholders, namely the persons with disabilities, training institutions, employers, government, industry associations and the NGOs, more prospects can be opened for the disabled, where they can perform various tasks successfully and competently.
