FIEO calls on African nations to create win-win situation

In the present scenario of global economic meltdown where the business communities of every country are badly affected Mr J K Jain, Chairman, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) (Northern Region) called upon the African nations to work in close cooperation such that a win-win situation is created for all and concentrate towards betterment of trading and economic ties. Mr Jain was addressing a function organized by FIEO to celebrate the Africa Day. The meeting was attended by the Heads of Missions of the African nations, and other countries.
Presence of Hon'ble Lt. Governor, Mr Tejender Khanna as the Chief Guest at the function represented the importance attached by the Government of India in further developing economic and trade relations with the African countries.
India-Africa trade have grown by around 43% during year 2007-08 vis-à-vis 2006-07, Mr Jain added. He said that the balance of trade was in favour of the African continent as India's export to Africa was slightly over US$ 14 billion, a growth of 38%, and imports were over US$20 billion, growth of 47%, during 2007-08. Mr J K Jain said that Africa was a very important market for India and, in the days to come the trade figures would grow manifold.
Mr. Jonathan Wutawunashe, the Ambassador of Zimbabwe and Dean of the African Group in New Delhi said that Africa Day represented determination, unity and harmony of the African nations. Given the present day situation of violence world over the message of unity and harmony was important for the global community.
