During a ceremony, to be organized on the World Handicraft Day on June 10, country's top handicraft artists will be honoured by the President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
More than 2,000 people including 300 top handicraft artists have been invited to the event, informed Mr. Yahya Rahmati, the deputy head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) for traditional arts and handicrafts.
Along with the heads of ICHHTO's handicraft departments, other people associated with handicrafts such as art students, master craftsmen, producers, businessmen and importers will also attend the event, said Mr. Rahmati.
In terms of handicrafts, Iran has a very rich culture amongst the handicraft producing countries and products such as carpets, metalwork and woodwork are the most prominent Iranian handicrafts in the world, with each of the provinces having its own distinct handicraft culture.
