At 10 am, Thursday, June 18th, at 2360 Rayburn House Office Building, the U.S. House of Representatives Small Business Subcommittee on Rural and Urban Entrepreneurship will hold a hearing on “Textile Import Enforcement: Is the Playing Field Level for American Small Businesses?”
The hearing will focus on rising levels of Customs fraud in the Western Hemisphere Free Trade areas and committee members will hear from Harding Stowe, former CEO of RL Stowe Mills, the oldest textile mill in the country until it was forced to close in January because of the rising levels of CAFTA fraud.
The committee will also hear from Dan Nation, President of Parkdale Mills, the largest yarn spinner in the United States and whose business has been significantly impacted by illegal use of Chinese and Pakistani yarns in the free trade areas. Richard Crichton, a retired Customs officer with 40 years of experience in the textile fraud area will testify as well.
