Chief Minister Mr. Prem Kumar Dhumal asked Himachal Handicrafts and Handloom Corporation executives, who have a repository of rare designs, to explore the possibilities of using e-marketing channels for expanding marketing network.

The CM, while presiding over a review meeting, said that Himachali handloom and handicrafts have potential to attract domestic as well as international buyers because of their unique designs, distinctive patterns and quality.

He further suggested the corporation to participate in exhibitions, mega marts and launch publicity campaigns to draw buyer's attention towards Himachali handloom and handicrafts.

Mr. Dhumal said that the corporation should avail the benefits of E-shopping for boosting up the sales internationally as E-shopping is the latest medium of marketing to reach to the customers globally.

In addition to this, he said that the corporation can create franchises at malls and airports as well as can participate in national and international level trade fairs & exhibitions to generate demand for its products.

He also asked the corporation executives to get in touch with the Common Wealth Organizing Committee to request them to pick the state handlooms and handicrafts products.

He further added that, in this regard the opportunities are being provided by the Indian Government at the California Gift Show in USA, scheduled in July and at International Birmingham Fair in UK, which could prove to be helpful for the state's handloom and handicrafts.

Further he suggested to public sector undertakings to remain commercial in times of market competitiveness, to generate sufficient income to turn around and earn sustainable profits. Also he asked these undertakings to stop wasteful expenditure and take benefit of the available experience.
