KAM to organize half-day budget seminar on June 25

Kenya Association of Manufacturers has asked her members to submit their comments on how this year's budget speech, Finance Bill 2009 and the Provisional Collection of Taxes and Duties Order 2009 will affect their companies' operations.

This is because the KAM Secretariat intends to submit the Post Budget proposals to the Ministry of Finance for consideration by mid - July this year (2009).

To facilitate the secretariat to prepare the Industry position on the budget, members are requested to submit their comments to Mr. Dickson Poloji on or before 30th June 2009.

Please contact Ms. Josephine Ngugi in order to obtain a copy of the Budget Speech and Finance Bill 2009.

KAM has also organised a half-day budget seminar on 25th June 2009 at Nairobi Safari Club Hotel (Lilian Towers), Nairobi from 8.30am to 1.20 p.m to discuss the Budget Speech 2009/10.

The objectives of the Seminar will be:
• To enlighten KAM members on the Budget Speech ;
• To review the overall impact of the Budget Speech on the industrial sector ;
• To receive feedback from members on the Budget Speech ;
• To agree on the way forward.

Experts from Deloitte and Touché will make presentations on the overall impact of the Budget 2009/10 on the industrial sector focusing on both direct and indirect taxes. Representatives from the Kenya Revenue Authority and the Ministries of Finance, Industrialisation and Trade have also been invited.
