SDC India holds '6th Colour Trends Global Conference'

The Resort of Intercontinental the Lalit in Canacon, Goa, played the host to this year's SDC India's 6th Colour Trends Global Conference on 25-26 June 2009. For the first time ever, the SDC UK joined forces with its associate organisation SDC India to stage a global event which promised to be the highlight of the 2009 coloration calendar.

The theme - Sustainability in Coloration: Vision 2020 addressed key issues facing the coloration industry was aimed specifically at senior decision makers - chief executives, directors, consultants and dye house managers. The conference offered insights into new research, new thinking and strategies in sustainable coloration.

The conference was opened by Dr Mike Bartle – President SDC UK and graced by Mr. Pradeep Bhandari Director on Board of Raymond Limited. The Society of Dyers and Colourists is the only international professional society specialising in colour in all its manifestations. Founded in 1884, the society was granted a Royal Charter of Incorporation in 1963.

SDC is a registered charity and its aims and objectives are 'to advance the science of colour' in the broadest sense. Three books were launched on this solemnized occasion in field of Colouration by the SDC President Dr. Mike Bartle.

The following speakers of International repute made presentations on:

Phil Patterson: Consultant, DEFRA, UK - Indian Dye house and their eco-efficiency
Roy Gordon: Consultant (ex ICI): Levenstine Lecture - Innovations in Specialty Chemicals
Angela Wright: UK, Colour Consultant - Colour Psychology in Business Practice
Parikshit Goswami: Univ. of Leeds, Role of Green Chemistry in Sustainable coloration
Martin du Plessis: Group Head ATCT, BASF India, Relevance of Carbon footprint for sustainability
Thomas Mahlo: Germany, Sustainability in coloration, role of Machinery
Mark Prose: Control Union, Netherlands, Sustainability, from Crop to Shop.

The sessions were chaired by eminent persons from the industry and was followed by interactive question answer sessions. The Societys prestigious FSDCs, ASDCs and Medals were also conferred on the day of conference to the following industry personnels.
