Huntsman collects a trio of trophies at TCC's Annual Awards

For the second year running, Huntsman Corporation has won a series of awards from the Texas Chemical Council(TCC),providing a resounding endorsement of the excellent quality and safety of its work in The Woodlands.

Huntsman collected a trio of trophies at the TCC's Annual Awards Banquet in Galveston on June 11, all of which recognize Outstanding Performance at the Huntsman Advanced Technology Center and an exceptional safety record throughout 2008.

The three accolades were awarded in respect of injury prevention, community awareness and general safety.

The Distinguished Service Award: acknowledging continual improvements in safety, this was presented to Huntsman for its commitment to and implementation of TCC supported safety programs.

The Zero Contractor Incident Rate Award: this was given to Huntsman for maintaining a clear accident record, with zero recorded contractor injuries or illnesses, throughout the twelve months to December 2008.

The Caring for Texas Award: Designed to reward TCC member companies for their commitment to employees and the local community, Huntsman received this award for the exceptional standard of its work during 2008 in the areas of community awareness, security, emergency response plans and pollution prevention.

“Receiving this level of endorsement from the Texas Chemical Council for a successive year makes the Huntsman team extremely proud,” said Brian Pellon, Vice President of Research & Development (R&D) at the Huntsman Advanced Technology Center. “The continuous improvement of safety, security and environmental stewardship is ingrained in every Huntsman employee & contractor, and is of paramount importance when we come into work every day. These awards are a tangible reminder of this commitment and our determination to exceed our own high standards,while maintaining a duty of care to the community in which we live and operate.”

The Texas Chemical Council is a state-wide trade association of chemical facilities in Texas. Currently 77 member companies provide employment for more than 74,000 people at over 300 separate facilities across the state. Created in 1953, the TCC is designed to represent the chemical industry's common interests at a state level, including important areas such as environmental protection, health and safety issues, and energy policy.

The Huntsman Advanced Technology Center is the company's largest Research & Development (R&D) facility. It houses 14 large open laboratories and almost two hundred technical personnel are employed on site.
