Annual Graduating Fashion Show of WLC College

The graduating fashion students of WLC College, New Delhi celebrated Quintessence 2009 - an annual fashion show was a way to introduce a group of young designers from the WLCI Fashion School to the Fashion world on 4th July' 09 at The Grand Ballroom, The Grand. Quintessence is the annual celebration of creativity of the students and applauds their entry into the professional world as young fashion designers, stylists, fashion merchandizers, illustrators, in fact, in all areas and nuances of Fashion!

The fashion show was the result of meticulous work and training of the students and the enormous efforts of the faculty members. Through the industry oriented programmes, WLC Fashion school students have acquired professional skills and relevant learning to flourish in the highly competitive fashion industry.

Sunil Sethi-President, FDCI, Rohit Bal- leading designer; Leena- designer Ashima-Leena; Mr. Deepak Bhandari- Director Marketing, Modi Revlon; Mr. Anil Manan, Vice President & Executive Creative Director – McCann Ericson were some of the special guests for the evening who added further glamour to the show with their presence.

Rashmi Virmani, noted choreographer, choreographed the show that saw models like Alisha Parekh, Anchal Oberoi, Kajal Srivastava, Anousha, Ankita Jain, Ritu Kapoor and many others walk the ramp showcasing the debutant collection of WLCI's graduating batch. Rashid, the Emcee for the evening, gave the young designers a feisty introduction in his inimitable style.

“Quintessence 2009, our annual fashion show exhibits the creativity and professional skills of the graduating batch of the Fashion School. This is the culmination of years of diligent work and training of our students and the efforts of the faculty,” informed Mr. Vinay Pasricha, Chairman, WLCI.

“I share the Faculty's pride in presenting the work of the years' graduating batch of 2009, whose youthful energy and creativity is evident in their wonderful collections. I extend my gratitude to all the members of the External Jury who evaluated their work,” opined Malobika Sengupta, CEO, WLCI.

The collections were critically reviewed and evaluated by highly respected names from the fashion world, such as noted Fashion Designer Mr. Samant Chauhan; Mr. Aseem - Head Designer Tarun Tahiliani, Mr. Amarjeet - Head Designer GFO, Ms.Pam Mehta - Head Designer Kimaya and experienced fashion consultant Anish Tahim. Deepti Baveja, Campus Director, National Head Graphic Designing, WLCI; Sangitika Nigam, National Head Media, WLCI, Kajal Gupta, Senior Fashion Faculty, WLCI; and Aditi Jha, Fashion Faculty, WLCI were also the members of the jury.

The collections were sponsored by Kingfisher Airlines, VLCC and Mahindra. The grooming partner was VLCC, who also offered generous gift hampers to the winners. Travel partner was 'Meru' and 'Signature' was the beverages partner for the fashion show.

The gala evening was brought to a close with the successful launch of an entire batch of 24 new faces with their collections. The young designers to reckon with in the Indian fashion industry included:
