In recent years, European consumers have shifted their concerns to environmental protection in production of clothing and textiles. Some developed countries represented by the European Union have introduced a variety of environmental eco-labeling systems. Exports of clothing and textiles to the EU member states will be prohibited if they exceed these environmental requirements.
Environmentally friendly clothing has become very popular in international markets and many technologically advanced countries have joined the movement in developing environmentally-friendly and functional apparel along with high standards of quality and imports are done in accordance with the set standards.
But China's textile and garment enterprises are still operating in extensive ways with little consideration of environmental protection and safety when choosing fabrics in production, due to which a huge volume of textiles and clothing have been rejected at the European ports, leading to huge losses.
