Singtex weaves fabrics from grounded coffee beans

Singtex Industrial Company, set up in 1989 has made rapid strides since its incorporation to become one of the most prominent fabric manufacturers in Taiwan and has engaged itself in continuous research and development in the area of new fashion, functional and environment-friendly fabrics.

In a latest technological development, Singtex has announced a breakthrough technology, fabric called, 'S.Cafe', which weaves waste coffee grounded beans into interlaced fibers. Recycled coffee grounded beans are transformed by a patented process into special fibres.

Most coffee residue is dumped after the coffee is ground. Singtex recycles it first into fibres and then into fabrics, which is the first of its kind in the world, to create textiles that offer fast drying properties, UV protection and odor control, as well as meet, Swiss bluesign standards for environmentally friendly textiles.
