The Government of the state of Gujarat has approved land for setting up of a “Domestic Apparel Park” and the members of the Gujarat Garment Manufacturers Association (GGMA) are planning to invest around Rs 150 crore.
This apparel park is expected to be ready for occupancy in the next 1.5 years. Nearly 600 members of GGMA have shown intent of interest in setting up of garment manufacturing units in the park.
This apparel park which has been proposed to be set up in the premises of the erstwhile Ambica mills and construction of the project is expected to begin by November this year and will be completed by early 2011.
GGMA has requested the government to allot more land for the apparel park since the land of Ambica mills adds up to only 520,000 sq. feet, while the requirement could be in excess of 2 million sq. feet.
