According to the Chairman of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA), that total arrival of cotton for the fortnight ending on September 1 stood at 1.291 million bales (1 bale=170 kg).
Of the1.291 million bales, Punjab contributed 610,006 bales, while production of Sindh was 681,185 bales. The textile sector had purchased 1.03 million bales, while trade exporters bought 146,557 bales.
He said, 54,000 bales of Phutti (cotton seed) were lying unused at the ginneries, as it could not be ginned, on account of frequent interruption of electricity.
