High level delegation from Bangladesh visits FDDI

According to Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary, FDDI “With the visit of the delegation from Bangladesh there is no doubt that FDDI has a distinct presence not only in higher education but in the spheres in Industrial Consultancy, Research and Development and Training of active industry professionals too.”
In Bangladesh, there are reportedly over 240 units of leather operation (tanneries) in Hazaribagh, Dhaka.
In Bangladesh, some quantity of 'kangaroo hides' (pickled condition or wet-blue) are imported from Australia and finished in Bangladesh and shoes are made of this kangaroo leather for export to Japan. Some quantity of 'ostrich bird' leather is also imported from Australia for production of high quality and high priced bags and wallets for re-export to Australia.
According to Mr. Deepak Kumar, IRS, Executive Director, FDDI “Since FDDI is a leader in footwear design & leather accessory technology development in India, the Government of Bangladesh has considered benefiting from the experience and expertise of FDDI.” FDDI is already providing consultancy to the industry in all technical and design related areas. It has earned good name due to the effective tailor-made services provided through its technical expertise and knowledge at the international forum. It is providing consultancy to Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Kenya and other Asian and African Countries for the growth of the leather industry.
