Vienna Fashion Week 2009 begins from Sept 24

Fashion debut: from September 24 to September 27 2009 Vienna's MuseumsQuartier hosts the MQ Vienna Fashion Week. A must for all buyers, trend scouts and fashionistas!

This is something the city hasn't seen before: for the first time Vienna showcases a wide-ranging fair. Previous event almost exclusively focused either on end-consumers or Vienna's design elite, whereas this fair wants to actively involve the industry. There have been numerous initiatives to push young designers before, but this fashion week's international character is unparalleled.

"It's obvious that we take Paris, Milan and London as our role model, but at this stage we would never ever measure ourselves with any of these fairs" states one of the organizers, Elvyra Geyer.

Although spoken in extremely modest terms the fashion week's debut year doesn't have to hide it's international format. It's cosmopolitan Designer Line Up pinpoints that Austrian and international fashion design meet on equal levels. Ready-to-wear labels such as Michel Mayer (Vienna), Superated (Vienna) or Gina Drewes (Carinthia) co-present next to Tom Rebl (Milan) or Berlin Fashion Week's latest sensation Marcel Ostertag (Munich). A especially devoted urban area also showcases street ware fashion and features among others Julia Cranz (Vienna), Sheela (Saalfelden) or Art Point (Moscow).

On top of catwalk shows ticket holders have access to devoted sales areas where the Designer's latest fashion can be explored, fitted and purchased. In addition each night MuseumsQuartier's Hofstallungen hosts eye-popping parties for glamour-loving fashionistas.
