Australian wool market closes on high note

Buyers for China continued to dominate, followed by those buying for India with limited demand from buyers for Europe. Sales will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 46,489 bales are currently rostered for sale. Present estimates for the following two sales (weeks 14 and 15) are 48,090 and 48,200 bales, respectively; a decrease of 6.9% over the three sale period when compared with last year. The New Zealand Merino Company will offer 3,690 bales in Melbourne next week and 3,700 bales in Week 15.
In South African sales, where 5,903 bales were on offer, the Cape Wools Indicator was up by 3.5% since last week against a 2.3% appreciation of the Rand against the US Dollar and a 1.0% appreciation against the Euro.
