The “Gold Coast ITU Aquathlon World Championships” were held on Wednesday 9 September in Australia, and the young athlete, Andrea Secchiero of the “ProtekThriathlonRho” team took his place on the highest point of the podium after winning the world title in the Under 23 category! (running 2.5 / swimming 1.0km / running 2.5km)
A gold medal, won with great technique and a strong competitive spirit, that goes to complete a season full of national and international wins and significant placings for the twenty-year old “ProtekTriathlonRho” team member.
“I had a good race, even mentally, I'm very happy. The pace of the race was very fast, especially in the first running section, but I felt good, I was never in difficulty. The real weeding-out came in the water...Now after this first favourable step we're looking forward to the Triathlon World Championship on Friday and Sunday"
The final result was:
1 Andrea Secchiero (ITA) 29.22
2 Daniel Halkswort (GB) 29.27
3 Philip Wolfe (GB) 29.30
Coach Sergio Contini's words also expressed his satisfaction – “we were certain that Andrea would be able to “make himself noticed ”also in a world championship, and he did it, adding a well-deserved gold medal to his personal results for 2009 where he has been one of the main protagonists in all our specialties from the aquathlon and the duathlon to the triathlon.“
For the third year running, Carvico, with its Revolutional family of fabrics, is technical sponsor for all the training and competition clothing worn by the “ProtekTriathlonRho” team. Another important occasion to demonstrate how the technicality and quality that are the hallmark of Carvico fabrics, combined with the strength and determination of the young athletes, always produce extraordinary results!
