“When it comes to raw materials, these are the sorts of issues that retailers and brands really want to hear more about,” said Sumner. “With a leading panel of experts and an open forum for debate, the RITE Group conference is an ideal opportunity for retailers to take a firm grasp of the latest ideas and information on sustainable raw material selection.
Phil Patterson at Colour Connections will head up a session on Green Chemistry Colouration that will ask “what makes sustainable dyeing and finishing? Are all chemicals bad?” Panellists include the US National Resource Defense Council which will share information on a major textile dyehouse project in China. There will also be a session focussing on the importance of design in sustainability featuring Tom Podkolinski, designer at Finisterre and Dilys Williams, head of the Centre for Sustainable Design at the London College of Fashion, who will focus on holistic approaches to the design, production and consumption of textiles and recent innovations in sustainable design.
Further speakers and members of the panel discussions will be revealed shortly when final confirmation has been received. Places at the conference are limited and the RITE Group expects another major turnout of retailers, brands and textile industry executives.
