Textile firm wades through crisis, generates new jobs

Turgut Bakir, Managing Director of Modavizyon Tekstil Edirne Factory, a company owned by Sahinler Holding, said that the firm has more than quadrupled its head count from 300 to 1,400 in the last three months on back of a renewed order book position.
He said its European as well as US based clients like, Zara, s.Oliver, Marc O'Polo, More & More and Banana Republic, have increased their orders and would continue growing by creating opportunities out of the global crisis.
He added by saying that, “The decline in total orders is ongoing in the textile market, which has been greatly affected by the global financial crisis, however at Modavizyon, we are pleased to maintain our growth by seeing a rise in our orders”.
“In the upcoming months, we will continue increasing our staff, since we expect to increase our customer base as well increase the order volumes of our existing customers and we will continue to contribute to the revival of the economy in Edirne, by creating new employment opportunities”, he said.
The Modavizyon Edirne Factory, which began operations in 1994, has a built up area of 16,000 square meters on a total land of 30,000 square meters and produces approximately 10,000 pieces of women and men's outerwear for customers in EU and US.
Sahinler Group is a fully integrated group which operates across the whole textile and apparel value chain and enjoys a robust import and export business throughout Turkey, EU, US, Jordan, Bulgaria, China, Egypt, India and Bangladesh.
