Sustainable fashion is the center of attention when a hand full of young and talented designers will present their ideas of innovative and sustainable design at the fashion show "Innovating Sustainable Fashion" on Thursday 3 December 2009.

The show will take place during the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen and is arranged by Center for Responsible Design in cooperation with CPH Vision/Terminal-2 and Designers' Nest. The fashion show will constitute the climax of the design contest "Innovating Sustainable Fashion", which serves the purpose to put sustainable fashion on top of the fashion industry's agenda and present the potential that young designers make up in this line of trade.

Design with meaning
Young designers have a natural need for placing their design into a societal context, which reflects present ideologies and trends. This design contest will therefore give the students the possibility to show how aesthetic and meanings are inextricably linked, says project coordinator from Center for Responsible Design Tina Hjort, who is one of the main forces behind the project.

The contest, which is addressed to design student at Danish design schools, is based on three categories:
Design for Inclusion, Design for Environment and Design Considering Use. The categories share the common goal to incorporate social responsibility and sustainability into the design. 20 concepts will be showcased on the catwalk on December 3rd. The chosen concepts are created by students from the Danish design schools Designskolen Kolding, The Danish Design School, TEKO and KEA Design/Business (former known as Bec Design).

Acclaimed industry executives and fashion designers on board on the judging panel
Christian Stadil - owner of the brand Hummel
Tina Casmose - fashion designer and owner of the company "Tina Casmose"
Martin Fluri - sociologist and founder of "vuggetilvugge.dk"
Josefin Lassbo - fashion designer and owner of Reflective Circle
Maria Høgh - fashion designer and owner of the company Aymara

The panel of judges will judge the young designers upon their ability to unite CSR (corporate social responsibility) and fashion into an innovative design where story-telling and concept play a key role.

Exhibition
Following the fashion show the nominated designs will be displayed, offering guests, press and fashion professionals the opportunity to take a closer look at the students' creations. The first exhibition will open immediately after the show, followed by a second exhibition that will be held in conjunction to Copenhagen Fashion Week in February 2010 - both events held at the beautiful Terminal-2 and arranged by Center for Responsible Design in cooperation with CPH Vision/Terminal-2 & Designers' Nest.
