According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, China's yarn output amounted to 2.047 million tons in July, down 7.6 percent from the previous month, but up 10.4 percent compared with the same time last year.
From January to July, China's total textile yarn output registered 13.083 million tons, up 7.8 percent year on year. In August, which is the end of traditional off-season in the industry, witnessed a spurt in sales of yarn.
Average price of cotton-carded yarn 32s stood at 18,697 Yuan per ton in August, up 2.3 percent from the previous month, but down 5.1 percent year on year and a noticeable price increase was also witnessed in all types of yarn.
Influenced by rising prices and demand for crude oil and purified terephthalic acid (PTA), prices of polyester staple fiber and viscose staple fiber clearly increased. The average price of polyester staple fiber stood at 9183 Yuan / ton in August, up 6.6 percent from the previous month, but down 19.5 percent year on year.
The average price of viscose staple fiber in August was 16,874 Yuan per ton, up 6.3 percent from the previous month and also rose 1.7 percent year on year.
