Biggest polyester producer to fight out anti-dumping probe

Zhejiang GuXianDao Industrial fiber Co., Ltd. has decided to respond to anti-dumping investigation launched by the European Commission on high-strength polyester yarn originating from China and other countries and regions.
It is learnt that the average annual imports of high-strength polyester yarn by the EU amounts to around US $100 million and this decision affects 40 textile enterprises in China, among which, GuXianDao Industrial Fiber Co is expected to feel the biggest impact.
Polyester high tenacity yarn is commonly known as polyester industrial filament yarn and it is widely used in automotive, construction, packaging materials, recreational sports, protective facilities, therefore, its added value is very high.
GuXianDao Industrial Fiber Co is the biggest manufacturer of polyester industrial filament and accounts for about 30 percent of China's exports of polyester industrial filament to the EU.
According to customs experts, the commission took the decision on a complaint raised by the European Association of Man-Made fibers on behalf of three European companies, whose output accounts for over 60 percent of the EU's total output of polyester high tenacity yarn.
The allegation leveled by these three companies is that, export volume of Chinese products to Europe increased from 2,800 tons in 2004 to 51,400 ton in last year and market share of Chinese products in the EU grew from 1.2 percent to 22.4 percent.
Once, the charge of dumping by Chinese enterprises is established, the European Commission will levy different dumping rates against enterprises based on their various dumping levels. The highest rate is expected up to 30 percent, which would mean completely losing the EU market.
